“Haircuts are great but also great brothers that work there. Everyone is welcomed and you never feel like an outsider. Best thing is that they take appointments which cuts down on your wait time dramatically.”

“NOTE: This is a review of the coffee half of the business, not the fitness studio. Duo, a combination coffee bar & fitness studio, moved out of Upper Kirby after 5 years, in April 2026. It was a nice, little, relaxed, corner neighborhood spot. It is now more of an upscale-aiming, stylish place. High ceilings and a beautiful view of the downtown Houston skyline are decorative features of the new location. But PARKING is its top problem – patrons only get a 15-minute free zone across the street for a quick pick-up if they don't want to have to pay – otherwise they'll be shelling out of pocket to do it, whether on the street at a meter, or at an indoor garage. That won’t be an issue for those who live in that area at the Autry Park development who can walk there (or those along W. Dallas nearby), clearly its new target market. The basic clientele seems to be folks 21 to 30; that’s mostly who I saw in the seating area when I went one recent afternoon. It looks like the kind of place where professional models, tech bros and real-estate deal makers would hang out. Brews are comparable in taste and pricing to most indie places – not outstanding, but not behind, either. Excellent chocolate chip cookies, I will miss those. Duo 2.0 is not a nighttime place – they close at 7PM during the week and (surprisingly) even earlier on weekend nights – 6PM. It’s a morning or afternoon hangout only. If you love the night like I do, then hit Black Hole (closes 10PM seven nights) or Brasil (closes 11PM six nights) instead, both in nearby Montrose. I had hoped to like the new Duo more after its move, but with the harder parking, the reduced hours, and the new vibe, I’m not as jazzed, unfortunately. I’m sure they’ll find new fans, of course, but for folks in Upper Kirby and River Oaks, it’s a regrettable loss.”
